Other than being used to roll for overall health, hurt, and spells (albeit the a lot less strong ones), they're also Utilized in supplying Inspiration (a bonus d6 to incorporate to some random d20 roll, which can be conferred by possibly a bard character or even the DM), and deciding means scores.  The sum on the figures on opposite faces is 21.
